R250/521 is a pseudorandom number generator invented by Heuer et al in 1997 based on the generalized feedback shift registers (GFSRs) invented by Kirkpatrick and Stoll in 1981. It combines the members GFSR(250,103) and GFSR(521,168) of the class of GFSRs in a way that attains better statistical properties than both. See Michael Brundage's discussion of R250/521 and some more discussion.
