Talk to me here if you want.

[edit] Welcome

Hi Lehalle. I'm impressed at your extensive background and would be happy to hear any thoughts or suggestions you have for the wiki beyond Matlab syntax highlighting. Note that if you want you can check the "Send me an email when my user talk page is changed" check in your preferences (a relatively new MediaWiki feature) to get e-mail notifications when people post here. Welcome aboard. Deco 05:02, 4 March 2006 (PST)

[edit] Userboxes

Hi, me again. I just noticed you've put yourself in a couple language categories. I understand why you did this, but just to keep things ordered we have separate categories for users and articles. See Category:Userboxes:Programming languages for a description of how to add programming language userboxes to your user page, which will also implicitly add you to categories such as Category:Users:Matlab:Experts. Hope this helps. Deco 05:38, 4 March 2006 (PST)

[edit] Some Matlab syntax highlighting support

Hi! Now that the new syntax highlighting system is on-line I've added some rudimentary support for Matlab, including comments, keywords, numbers, and operators. I plan to expand it in the future (when I figure out a little more about the syntax). You can view these regular expressions and add your own if you want at MediaWiki:SyntaxHighlightingRegexps. I hope this helps. Deco 04:09, 5 March 2006 (PST)

[edit] Community tags and talk pages

Hi. I moved a couple of your community tags from the articles to the talk pages. While it does get more exposure in the article, its presence there also makes the article more difficult to reuse in contexts outside of LiteratePrograms, and additionally creates a feeling of exclusive ownership that could discourage editors who are not in the community. For this reason I moved it to the talk page. I hope you don't mind. Deco 12:24, 8 March 2006 (PST)

I agree with you: the text "this article is maintained by..." is too exclusive, I even considered to write "is (not only) maintained by..." ;{)}. I only wanted to encourage people I know and which are into this community to modify those articles. At this stage I did not talk to them about because I wanted that all those kind of point be settled before. Thank you once more to use so much of your time on this kind of questions - Charles

[edit] Image licensing change

Hi Charles. Because you've uploaded quite a few images, I just wanted to make sure that a recent change in the image license policy is cool with you. Because MIT only really makes sense for textual content, I've decided that all images must be released into the public domain (or under "no rights reserved" where this is not possible). See the Special:Upload page for details. Note that it's still okay on user pages and such to link offsite images if you want, which you can do just by writing their URL. Is this okay? Deco 12:04, 9 March 2006 (PST)

No problem for this, I created the images just for this use, so and license would be ok for me - Charles 9 march 2006

[edit] Go to the article

I have tweaked your Template:Go to the article a little. I've made two changes. The first is minor: the arrow is now somewhat smaller. The second change is a bit bigger. This template now requires a parameter, which defines the namespace for the target article. Thus if the target article is in the Category namespace we would type

{{Go to the article|Category}}

If the parameter is left empty, e.g.

{{Go to the article|}}

the target article is assumed to be in the main namespace. This change was made to allow the template to be used on Category talk pages as well as regular pages. I've modified the two places that you were using the template, to make them conform to this new version. Hope this is all ok with you. --Allan McInnes (talk) 12:41, 9 March 2006 (PST)

I had the problem and did not think about this solution, thanks - Charles 9 march 2006

[edit] A few things

Hi Charles,

A few things:

First, I've implemented syntax highlighting for OCaml (only just worked out a bug trhat mis-highlighted a lot of your OCAMAWEB source this morning). It's possibly incomplete (I don't know OCaml that well), so if you see anything that you would like changed [lease just let me know.

Second, I'm a little unsure about listing XML as a "programming language" in our category structure. Please see my comment at Template talk:List of programming language categories.

Thanks! --Allan McInnes (talk) 09:10, 7 April 2006 (PDT)

thank you for ocaml highlighting, my complete answer in you your talk page Lehalle 09:22, 7 April 2006 (PDT)

[edit] XML syntax highlighting

I have now implemented XML syntax highlighting. Please let me know if there are any problems with it. --Allan McInnes (talk) 14:07, 7 April 2006 (PDT)

[edit] You're a sysop

Hi Lehalle. I promoted you to sysop, allowing you to delete articles, protect pages, and do some other handy things. No particular reason, just figured you've done some good work and I'm pretty sure you're not going to screw up the site. :-) Deco 15:08, 25 May 2006 (PDT)

Congratulations! --Allan McInnes (talk) 18:15, 25 May 2006 (PDT)
thanks a lot, I'm honored. Lehalle
